Community & First Nations
A partnership of three Nations uncovering the truths of the Holy Angels Indian Residential School.
The project
Healing Fort Chip (formerly the Fort Chipewyan Truth Scanning Project) is a partnership between the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, Mikisew Cree First Nation and Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation. Working with the Canadian Association of Archaeology, they are uncovering the truths of the Holy Angels Indian Residential School (1874–1974) to bring closure to families and the community.
The site had to be calm and respectful. It offers video stories, news, a truth-sharing gallery of survivor and family stories, an overview of the truth scanning process, and healing and community resources.
